Armenian Genocide recognition bill again removed from Israeli parliament agenda

June 26,2018 19:32

As it was expected, as a result of the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey, after the victory of Erdogan and his alliance, the debate on the bill on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Israeli Knesset, scheduled for June 25, was removed from the agenda on the eve of the vote. The reason is that the ruling coalition refused to support the bill, and “Meretz” party chairwoman Tamar Zandberg, the author of the document, recalled it.

In response to “Meretz” party, the ruling coalition announced that it will present its own “alternative” bill on the issue in the near future, where, according to some information, the Armenian Genocide will be described as “tragedy” as opposed to the term “genocide” used in the previous bills.

By the way, it should be reminded that earlier, the discussion of the bill submitted by “Meretz” party on Knesset was postponed at the request of the Israeli Foreign Ministry on June 11 with the ground for “not supporting Erdogan’s victory” in Turkey’s elections, while the real reason, which was right the opposite, was again revealed.

Without a doubt, in the light of the predicted important developments in the region, Israel-Turkey “secret flirtation” will continue with new impetus and manifestations.
