Head of the RPA pre-election campaigns Armen Ashotyan held a press conference, where he said that the current authorities are not suited to deal with the challenges Armenia faces. “These authorities have demolished the hearts and minds of Armenian citizens. These authorities have not only violated written laws but also, many unwritten ones. The demolitions that these authorities have caused in Armenians’ hearts and minds, started with the implantation of hatred and ended with a crisis in the values system. The authorities are using a propaganda machine of putting the revolution above the Artsakh war. These authorities don’t even have basic national values.”
Ashotyan said that these elections will not be free and just since there is an atmosphere of hatred and citizens who dare to visit RPA campaign offices are put under pressure. “We were successful in being one of the top political forces. We were able to do so despite the black-and-white reality forced upon Armenia, and despite the difficulties that RPA candidates face.”
He continued, “We were able to open the eyes of several thousands of people. If these campaigns were a little longer, we could have proven that the movement of worried citizens was higher than serious political phenomena. We expect to be in parliament as a principled and rooted opposition.”
