Possible changes in Armenian Revolutionary Federation elite

December 24,2018 20:36

“There need to be differing opinions within any political organization,” the head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s Armenian Cause Office Giro Manoyan told reporters, answering the question of whether or not there will be possible changes in the ARF elite due to the seemingly high amount of dissatisfaction, considering the fact that Manoyan has been in charge of the Armenian Cause Office for a while. “I don’t think that this bureau has been around for very long. There are people who have been members of it since 2015 and others who have been in it since 2000,” Manoyan said, adding that possible changes can be made after the upcoming session.

When asked about how there have been disagreements regarding Hrant Margaryan, Giro Manoyan said that Margaryan has been in charge since 2000. He compared this to how German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been in power for even longer, and people are bound to have disagreed with her from time to time. “There are opinions about several members. The committee will decide. There were people who had reservations about Hrant Margaryan on the day he was elected, and it’s possible that one or two people joined them until now. The issue is not simply about individuals, but policy and strategy as well. The Armenian branch will also have an influence on those strategies and we will work in that direction,” Manoyan said, adding that there were other periods when the ARF was not in parliament, but this does not mean that the party needs to cease its activities.

When it became clear that President Serzh Sargsyan’s time in authority would be lengthened by his election as Prime Minister, the members of the Republican Party also used the German Chancellor as an example, stating that she has been in power for four terms.
