No money from the state budget was allocated for the Ryanair airline. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan spoke about this with reporters. “You can relax. I am once again denying all the information that is circulating on social media. It’s not true. The privileges we have set at the Zvartnots International Airport are the same for all airlines that have offered flights to new destinations. When routine flights did not take place to one destination for 12 continuous months, we get rid of airfare taxes. I do not know about the details of their business plan, but similar airlines work with maximum productivity. Privileges are not given to only one airline.”
Tigran Avinyan said that they are working in several directions. “Countries like Armenia have problems strengthening their connections with airlines and including new destinations for travel. This is our strategy. Our other strategy is through making plans for local airlines, and we will be able to speak about that in a year or two.”
When asked about why the airline offers such low prices, the deputy prime minister said, “I am not aware of the details of their business plan, but the entire logic of such companies is that they are focused on maximum productivity.”
According to Tigran Avinyan, the only support provided was given to the Gyumri airport, which has been given additional privileges on behalf of the European Union and the Zvartnots airport. “This does not come from the state budget, either.”
