My Step deputy Gayane Abrahamyan went to the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Sweden from October 13th-15th on a working visit. She participated in the democracy forum in Prague that was dedicated to the revolution in the Czech Republic. The deputy explained to reporters during a press conference that she received a warm welcome and a lot of priority was given to Armenia due to the recent revolution, adopted values, and the will of the authorities to make changes.

Gayane Abrahamyan spoke about the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan on behalf of the government of the Czech Republic. “They believe that direct sales did not take place, but there were facts to prove such in publications. They assured me that they will follow this closely to ensure that such transactions will not take place again. They need to understand that, even if they make a statement in favor of Azerbaijan, it will cause tensions at the border.” The issue is that Azerbaijan is carrying out major investments in the Czech Republic.

From November 4th-6th, Gayane Abrahamyan went on a working visit to Sweden to participate in the conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership. It is important to note that Azeri Minister of Foreign Affairs Mammedyarov was supposed to have a speech, which, according to the agenda, needed to be followed by a questions-and-answers segment. Gayane Abrahamyan was prepared to ask him questions, but the opportunity to ask questions was then eliminated.

Aravot Daily asked about the advice Abrahamyan was given when transitional justice was discussed in the Czech Republic. She responded, “The first piece of advice they give is not to rush. One of their main issues was to carry out all activities quickly because that is what society demanded. When I said that we are too late because it has already been a year, they said that it’s better to work slowly and draft laws accurately than to work quickly and make mistakes.”

Gayane Abrahamyan also spoke about fake news.
