One of the police officers from Gyumri who died in the war in Artsakh, Samvel Kochinyan, has three young children: two sons and one daughter. His younger son is 9 months old. Samvel would have been 40 years old in 9 days.
In an interview with Aravot Daily, his friend, political analyst Gagik Hambaryan, said that Samvel was the breadwinner in his household.
He worked at the Kumayr police department and carried out his service on Gyumri’s Vardanants Square.
“I’ve known him for more than 10 years. He was very smart, educated, outgoing, and well-mannered. He was a unique individual who enjoyed getting to know civilians. He knew how to talk to anyone. He especially knew Russian. Few police officers in Gyumri can be proud of knowing Russian that well. Although I was at his funeral, I can’t believe that he’s no longer here,” Gagik Hambaryan said.
