2021-2024 Housing and Infrastructure Projects to be implemented in Artsakh

March 29,2021 17:21

A discussion on the urgent socio-economic issues facing Artsakh took place on March 25th 2021 at the office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, chaired by PM Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Republic of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan with the participation of a number of Government officials and the Executive Director of the Hayastan All Armenian Fund, Haykak Arshamyan.

The urgency of implementing a Program to provide housing and infrastructure in Artsakh was the principal issue of the meeting and a decision was made to support approximately 6,000 families with housing as well as construct and/or renovate applicable infrastructures.  The President of the Republic of Artsakh noted that according to preliminary calculations, approximately 110 billion AMD would be needed for implementation. This, along with other ongoing initiatives, will enable the return of all displaced families to the Artsakh Republic.

The Prime Minister expressed the Government’s support for the discussed initiative and proposed implementing it in partnership with the Hayastan All Armenian Fund.

It was suggested that The Fund consider the possibility of allocating 58 billion AMD to this Project from currently available unallocated funds raised through the “We Are Our Borders” global campaign as well as those funds available to its partners.

The Government in turn, expressed their readiness to allocate to the Fund the remaining 52 billion AMD needed to complete the project also taking into account the equivalent financial support provided by the Fund to the Republic of Armenia during the war.

The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan supported the proposal.

Consequently, the Government of the Republic of Artsakh will present a detailed proposal for those Projects to be implemented between 2021 and 2024 for the consideration of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Hayastan All Armenian Fund.
