On June 16, the NA independent deputy Sofia Hovsepyan met with the President of the Association for Non-Formal Education of Europe Valdas Jankauskas.
The issues on non-formal education were at the core of the meeting. The interlocutors touched upon the peculiarities of non-formal education, the difficulties of organization of that kind of education and the ways of their overcoming. The successes registered by Lithuania in that sphere was particularly also touched upon. Valdas Jankauskas presented the experience of Lithuania, detailing what difficulties his country overcame, and legislative reforms made on that way.
According to Sofia Hovsepyan, today that non-formal education in Armenia is implemented non regulated. There are some problems related to the controllability of the sphere and the development perspective. “Therefore it is necessary to make reforms in the legislation and in the relevant decisions of the Government,” the MP has noted, adding that it is necessary to have one complete law for specifying the field of non-formal education and regulate it.

Let us note that now at the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, where Sofia Hovsepyan is also a member a legislative package on non-formal education and extra-school education is under revision.
