The Armenia alliance will appeal snap parliamentary election results in Constitutional Court: Aram Vardevanyan

June 28,2021 11:15

The official representative of the Armenia alliance’s central headquarters, Aram Vardevanyan, said that the Administrative Court accepted the Armenia alliance’s appeal and they have facts to prove that the ruling party abused its administrative resources. “In general, when we say that the election process is invalid, we do not look at purely mathematical data. This is not one vote for one side or two votes for the other. That’s why we used the term ‘systematic violations,'” he said. According to him, there were systematic violations. “1.25 million people participated in the elections, and the passports of 109 thousand people did not pass. In 2017, that number was 230 thousand, in 2018 – 130 thousand. Can I suspect that, in fact, the specialists did not fill in the details of the person who filled in the data of another person at that time? Can I suspect that the passports of those people were not valid from the beginning? Another circumstance is the voting of the soldiers. There can be many abuses with a military record book. From the beginning, the number of soldiers voting is secret.”

According to him, if we consider the issues of the possibility of passports, soldiers, and mobile voting mechanisms, we are talking about more than 200 thousand votes, which is a number that completely changes the outcome of the elections. “These circumstances will be fully presented to the Constitutional Court.” According to Aram Vardevanyan, they are going to submit the application to the Constitutional Court as soon as possible, within 5 days. “Only after the dispute is resolved in the Constitutional Court will we discuss the issue of mandates.  We will discuss it only after the dispute is resolved in the Constitutional Court. The Constitutional Court can make three types of decisions: declare the election results invalid, what we said in the CEC, which was of strategic importance because there is no expectation for justice, and such applications have never been properly examined, nor are they changed. Assume that the Constitutional Court has always changed a certain situation. The second decision he can make is to declare the election results invalid and appoint a second round, and the third is to recognize the election results as void and establish a new method for distributing mandates,” Aram Vardevanyan said.
