On March 31, a group of citizens protested in front of the UN Office in Armenia, as well as the embassies of France, Russia, and the United States. They demanded to use all possible mechanisms and ban the eviction of Armenians and ethnic cleansing of Artsakh by Azerbaijan.

The demonstrators near the UN office announced.  “You know what is happening in Nagorno-Karabakh, the situation has been especially tense over the past month. The international community must make every effort to prevent another genocide.”

They handed a letter to the representative of the UN Office, where it was said in particular: “War crimes committed by Azerbaijan, including the beheading and mutilation of captives of civilians, and the medieval mockery and barbarism of civilians, soldiers, and captives from Artsakh have largely gone unpunished. The international community has not made any concrete assessments or targeted statements in the past two years. The international community has so far turned a blind eye to the fact that during the 44-day war, Turkish mercenaries were recruited by Turkey into the Azerbaijani army.”

The statement said that Azerbaijan did not fulfill the November 9 agreement or return the Armenian captives. It regularly provoked the situation at the border, and continued to intimidate and kill civilians. Recently, it has been carrying out psychological terrorism, making it impossible for people to live in their homeland, which is one of the elements of ethnic cleansing.

“We demand a clear assessment of the criminal political regime of Aliyev and Erdogan, as well as the application of internationally known principles to stop ethnic cleansing. There are many facts and clearly substantiate that the existence of the Armenians of Artsakh is endangered.” One of the initiators of the demonstration recalled, “Until now, the UN has refrained from providing any presence in Artsakh. It has not been present in Nagorno-Karabakh and it has not gotten acquainted with humanitarian issues on the spot.

Going to Shushi immediately shows the bias of the UN and its support for the dictator, which we all condemn.”
