“From April 1, 2023, sports coaches will also be certified voluntarily, as a result of which their salaries will increase,” Sisak Gabrielyan said during the discussion at the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport on the topic Financial problems of sports federations on October 28.
The Committee Chair also added that the Government will provide subsidized salaries to the coaches. According to him, this will not solve all the problems of the sports world, but there will be significant progress.
There are more than three dozen sports federations operating in our country, which are mainly financed by the state and also receive grants.
Regarding the publicity of sports, Sisak Gabrielyan proposed to hold the finals of certain sports in public areas: squares, large sections of central streets, parks.

The RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan presented the problems of the field in detail. He considered the reforms of the existing legislation to be important in relation to the solution of the problems. According to the Deputy Minister, the Government finances 90% of sports federations and Armenian national teams, as well as athletes who have recorded high results in international competitions.
Karen Giloyan noted that 5 sports federations are sponsored. The Deputy Minister proposed to finance according to the need, which will also prevent corruption phenomena. The application of the tax exemption method, which is accepted in many developed countries of the world, has been highlighted in the direction of the development of sports.
The representatives of the sports federations, emphasizing the necessity of such discussions, proposed to change the financing system of sports structures by legislation, to pay salaries to the head coaches of all national teams of our country, as well as to finance sports clubs. It was proposed to allocate funds from the budgets of urban communities in order to ensure the development of sports and improve living conditions of sports clubs.
