The Third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, spoke to journalists about Armenia’s allies the other day. He said that he is naturally not excited by the statements of some Russian officials and considers it unacceptable that they put the terrorist and the target of the terrorist on the same level and call for calm. But in connection with Armenian-Russian relations, he criticized the RA authorities.
“And how should the mediators treat a person who flies here, and there, one to the right, one to the left, one to Prague, one to Moscow? It is not a policy of complementarities or “and-and.” It is a change of opinion under pressure, depending on the effect of stress. So I insist: the negotiator should be changed. It will be complicated to fix the situation and whoever replaces him will be incredibly difficult, but it is possible. Referring to the criticism of Russian peacekeepers, Serzh Sargsyan said.
“Okay, we criticize, we say: go away. Is there a country willing to bring a peacekeeper? Is there such a country? If not, why do they talk more or less? And can Nagorno-Karabakh face Azerbaijan without peacekeepers, especially since Armenia has washed its hands and does not consider it a security guarantor for a long time?

How should 120 thousand face 10 million? So the existence of today’s peacekeepers is a necessity. It should always be remembered that no alliance is a relationship for unilateral aid. In a normal human relationship, only friendship is vital when the partners realize that friendship is a mutual obligation, not that you always give, give, give, and I do nothing and go and start talking to someone else. It should be understood and realized. International politics has rigid, brutal sides. When they see that someone is not contradicting anything, they immediately swallow him. Yes, Russia was and still is our ally, and have you seen such alliance relations from our side? I have never been a Russian fan, ever. I won’t be. I have considered Russia our best ally because there is no any alternative. Those who want to come to this region, what do they offer us? And those promoting that idea, do they have agreements; will NATO come to set up a military base here, and will any EU country have a contingent in Karabakh? You know very well that I have never been anti-Europe at all. In other words, my reprimand does not refer to the EU or NATO but to the adventurers trying to blur everything here based on some circumstances. And blurring will not lead to anything good.”
