In general, the implementation of inclusive education has many actors, and it is important that the process is improved, especially ensuring the participation of parents: The RA NA deputy Zaruhi Batoyan said this at the sitting of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, presenting the draft law on Making Addenda and Amendments to the Law on General Education on October 17.
According to the rapporteur, the main objective of the draft is to ensure the participation of the parents in the process of inclusive education, by fixing not only the rights of parents and participation in the development of an individual curriculum, but also the obligation to support the implementation of the curriculum. The draft will also enshrine the right to create parenting groups.
The duties of pedagogical workers will be reviewed, an obligation to contribute to the creation of an environment free of discrimination in the classroom, to prevent the isolation of students, to ensure the inclusion of all students in the educational process, including in extracurricular activities, will be defined.

The Government presented certain technical and editorial amendments during the period from the first to the second reading, which were accepted by the author. Zaruhi Batoyan, as the author, also presented proposals for amendments to some authorizing norms.
The RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan highlighted the proposed amendments in the related report as a step towards improving the process of inclusive education. She informed that in the near future the Government will present drafts of new laws on Vocational Education and Training as well as on Higher Education and Science to the Parliament. Answering the questions of the Committee members, Zhanna Andreasyan presented clarifications regarding the established standards and assessment mechanisms.
The revised draft was endorsed.
The debate of the draft law on Amending the Law on the 2017-2020 Programme for the Privatization of State Property authored by the Government has been postponed.
