Iri.org. Yerevan, Armenia – A nationwide public opinion survey conducted by the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Insights in Survey Research finds that Armenians are broadly confident that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be free and fair and continue to support European integration.

Seventy-one percent of respondents believe the elections will be free and fair, including 34 percent who say they will “definitely” be free and fair and 37 percent who say they “probably” will.

“The data suggest that Armenians enter the election period with confidence in the process,” said Stephen Nix, Senior Director for Europe and Eurasia at IRI. “They are excited to cast their ballot in the June 7 elections.”

The findings also show continued interest in Armenia’s relationship with the European Union (EU). Approximately three-quarters of respondents support Armenia’s possible accession to the EU, including 38 percent who strongly support membership and 37 percent who somewhat support it.
