At the first session of the ninth convocation of the RA NA, the Parliament is debating the issue of election of the RA NA President.
According to Article 136 of the Constitutional Law NA Rules of Procedure, factions have the right to nominate one candidate for the position of the President of the National Assembly from among the members of the National Assembly. The President of the National Assembly is elected by secret ballot, by a majority of the votes of the total number of MPs. The moderator of the sitting Knyaz Hasanov noted that the issue of election of the President of the National Assembly is debated at the sitting of the National Assembly in accordance with the procedure established by Article 135 of the Rules of Procedure.
The Head of the NA Civil Contract Faction Arusyak Manavazyan informed that guided by Article 136 of the Constitutional Law NA Rules of Procedure, the Faction nominates Ruben Rubinyan as a candidate for the position of the NA President.
Before presenting the candidate’s biographical data, Arusyak Manavazyan spoke about the human and professional qualities of their nominated candidate, stating that Ruben Rubinyan is a principled figure who has gone through a difficult path of political and state-building for years. “He has proven not only through political but also through diplomatic work that he has the willingness and experience to represent the state interest at the highest level. I am confident that his organizational skills, balanced approach and political maturity will allow him to manage the work of the National Assembly extremely effectively and ensure the high reputation of the legislative body,” Arusyak Manavazyan emphasized.
