On September 25, in Brussels, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan met with Ms. Deren Derya, Head of the Division for Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan within the European External Action Service (EEAS) and Co-Chair of the EU-Armenia Human Rights Dialogue.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the main developments and problems in the field of human rights protection in Armenia, the activities of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, the guarantees necessary for its independence and effective functioning, as well as further developing cooperation within the framework of the EU-Armenia Human Rights Dialogue.
Ms. Anahit Manasyan emphasized that human rights guarantees must be strictly upheld by the state in all processes. The importance of having appropriate guarantees for ensuring the independent and effective functioning of the Human Rights Defender’s Office and their practical implementation was also emphasized.
The parties emphasized the importance of the continued development of cooperation established within the framework of the EU-Armenia Human Rights Dialogue.
