RPA faction parliamentarian Armen Ashotyan said that the RPA session on November 10 will be historical since the RPA will participate in the upcoming presidential elections with its RPA candidate for the first time.
— Why Republican has decided to hold its session in “Dinamo” stadium, and the headquarters of your candidate will be located in the building of Football Federation? It seems you have a sport party!
— I appreciate your sense of humor but I should give you serious answers and note that sport has many advantages towards policy. First of all sport is peace, sport forbids unfair actions, sport forbids doping, sport allows to compare forces, sport is much more popular than several political parties. In this parallels it is obvious that the Republican is for a fair game, doesn’t use doping, is very popular and has all positive qualities which sport has.
If more seriously, we prefer above mentioned two buildings because for the headquarters it is easy to park in front of the building and there are a lot of rooms inside. Regarding the session I may confirm that a historical session will be held indeed because our party will participate in the forthcoming presidential elections with its party candidate for the first time. We should have a large territory for all delegates, guests who would like to participate in this historical event.
— It seems that the Republicans avoid of speaking about the First President’s nomination, current President Robert Kocharyan himself and every time speaks about the First President and his speech instead, and doesn’t it mean that the current President is engaged in RPA candidate’s PR?
— The President has declared that the best candidate is the RPA candidate and it is already PR. Regarding Ter-Petrosyan’s nomination and RPA remark, why RPA should be against any candidate’s nomination? Constitution allows nominating everybody, and our country is a legal country, consequently there is no juridical problem. If he wants to nominate his candidacy, let him do it, we have no problem. Just the opposite, it is very profitable for us to have more candidates from the opposition, none of them is a real concurrent for us.
— Don’t you think that each remark of the current President’s against the First President damages your party’s candidate; it seems that his announcements work against your candidate.
— I have no intention to express my opinion on Mr. Kocharyan’s standpoints but your opinion is very common in the opposition and has two intentions: to sow final discrepancy between the RPA leader and the current President, which is condemned, or you have an apprehension that the President’s opinion is very important for the population. That’s why the opposition worries about it.
