Radio Azatutyun. Thousands of residents of Kermanshah, western city of Iran, went to the street on Friday, 29 December 2017 as it had been planned to protest against the authorities. Protestors were chanting “Death to the dictator, people suffer in poverty”.
According to videos posted on social networks, protestors targeted both President Hasan Rouhani and religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, although no names have been voiced.

A day earlier, a mass protest was organized in Mashhad, Iran’s second largest city, against high prices. According to reports, prices of some products have increased by forty percent in recent days.
In response to this wave of protest, officials threatened to use force to put an end to the illegal gatherings.
