Kapan Mayor resigns: the issue was not on his agenda

July 07,2018 13:38

Kapan Republican Mayor Ashot Hayrapetyan has resigned, because of the incident that took place at the meeting with the Prime Minister, where the gathered did not let him make a speech.

One of the residents addressed a question to Ashot Hayrapetyan, but when he tried to answer, the public started whistling. “You are a criminal, Republican Party’s puppet, your regime is in the past”, the question giver was shouting. Nikol Pashinyan took the microphone from the Mayor.

A few days ago the Mayor of Kapan told Aravot.am that there was no question of resignation on his agenda.

Ashot Hayrapetyan made a statement which says: “I abdicate my powers, I resign from the post of Kapan Mayor. There are objective and subjective reasons for this decision, nevertheless, without specifying them, I will conclude briefly: my views on my actions and responsibilities are given to me within the framework of the local self-government powers, the implementation of the initiated projects, and the community vision are different from the expectations of the residents of the community today. I wish successful governance for the next head of the community for the benefit of my dear Kapan, empathy, tolerance, love, and respect towards the community”.
