April 29,2019 21:31

Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan was participating in a public discussion titled “Informed Citizens” at Mashtots Park in honor of Citizens’ Day.

Mnatsakanyan said that, one year after the revolution, he noticed the feeling of independence is even more pronounced in the younger generations and he believes it’s important for citizens to be in control of their own lives and to demand that the state secure that right.

Acting director of the Komitas State Conservatory Sona Hovhannisyan, who was also present for the discussion, expressed the opinion that cultural figures have the right to speak and not to speak, as well as the right to be active or passive. According to her, they are not required to stand next to anyone, whether it be the people or the authorities. “Of course, active people carried out the revolution. It was carried out due to young and ambitious people. But now we are in another phase, which demands a different demonstration of activism.”
