On September 17-18, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan at the invitation of the President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Emigration of the Senate of Italy Vito Petrocelli left for Rome to take part in a number of meetings in the parliament. The Head of Armenia-Italy Friendship Group Maria Karapetyan was also in the NA delegation that left for Italy.
On September 17, within the framework of the visit Ruben Rubinyan and Maria Karapetyan met with the Head and members of Italy-Armenia Friendship Group, as well as the Head of Italy-Armenia Relations Division of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Guilio Centemero and the members of the same Division.
On the same day, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations had a meeting with the President of the Commission on Foreign Relations of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy Marta Grande. During the meeting Ruben Rubinyan presented to his colleague of the Chamber of Deputies the ongoing reform processes in the post-revolutionary Armenia, the priorities of the parliamentary diplomacy, in this context underlining the importance of closer cooperation with the legislative body of the country with parliamentary government.
At the meeting parties also touched upon the decision on the Armenian Genocide on 10 April 2019 by the Chamber of Deputies of Italy. With regards to this Ruben Rubinyan has noted that Armenia greatly highlights the decision made by the Chamber of Deputies, which is a great contribution in the international recognition process of the Armenian Genocide.

The sides also referred to the agenda of the RA-EU relations, in this context underscored the quick ratification of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement by the Parliament of Italy as much as possible.
At the end of the meeting Ruben Rubinyan invited his colleague to Armenia on a working visit.
On September 18, within framework of the working visit the delegation of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations also met with the members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Emigration of the Senate. The sides talked about the reforms going on after the non-violent, velvet revolution held in Armenia. They also related to the agenda items of the Armenian-Italian relations. Ruben Rubinyan presented to his colleagues of the Senate the present process of the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, as well as the developments existing in the region. At the end of the meeting Ruben Rubinyan reached an agreement with his colleague on hosting him in Armenia.
Within the scope of the visit the RA NA delegation had also meetings with the Head of the Italian delegation to PACE Alvise Maniero and the Head of the Italian delegation to NATO PA Luca Fruzone. During the abovementioned meetings the interlocutors touched upon the cooperation on the inter-parliamentary platforms, considering prior the effective cooperation in the issues of bilateral interest.
