Marukyan on the robbery by ‘Sashik’ and Surik Khachatryan: That man is a thief, if we keep silent now those thieves will try to return

May 10,2022 13:33

Aravot.am asked Edmon Marukyan, ambassador-at-large, on May 9 that nowadays he is being criticized for standing by the authorities, they say that he has been sold, he is a customer, how he feels about all those labels, Marukyan answered, “Firstly, let’s take a look who says that. If they are the forces who had stolen everything that Armenia had, took it, let’s say, to Los Angeles, built a house with 63 billion, of course, I ignore them. If it is someone who is lost, who is influenced by propaganda, I explain to them that there is no other Armenia, this is it. Either we learn from what we have, from this situation, or we can lose this state.”

To the question, that he speaks about the robbery, that the robbery’s “goose is cooked”, 4 years have passed, no robber was caught, Marukyan replied that he criticizes it as well. “There are a lot of free cells in prisons. I think many people should have been in prison, but they are not. You should speak, so they will get caught, otherwise, those robbers come and teach us. Do you understand? They teach you how to work as a journalist, they teach me how to work as a politician. But that person is a thief. If we keep silent now, they will try to return and steal again.”

We urged him to name the thief, but Marukyan refused, saying that he doesn’t want it, it was the Victory day. We asked him, if the opposition is struggling for Artsakh in the streets, you don’t believe their sincerity? Doesn’t he believe that Surik Khachatryan, the former governor of Syunik, is calling people to struggle? Marukyan replied: “No, how can I believe the sincerity of Sashik (brother of the third president Serzh Sargsyan) or let’s say of Surik Khachatryan? Everything has its limits. They came out to save Artsakh. Look, elections were held, we have sacrificed our mandates, and dissolved the parliament. The people went to the polling stations and decided that they are going to be the second and the third forces, and the Civil contract the first, and they gave us (“Bright Armenia”) nothing. What should we do now? Block streets? Make demonstrations? The people have decided, the next decision is in 5 years. As a politician can I demand new elections? Maybe we will pass, we will definitely pass but I don’t want it, every shock is fraught with new wars. People know that, but when they consider it more important to bring back Surik Khachatryan as a governor than the state of Armenia, that’s their right.”
