“We must use our possible means to solve the issue of Artsakh’s right to self-determination.” Ara Zohrabyan

November 03,2023 16:30

Former Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates, Ara Zohrabyan, who participated in the work of the Artsakh Statehood Preservation Committee at the Marriott-Armenia Hotel, was also tight-lipped about the content of the discussed topics in the briefing with journalists. However, in response to the questions, he said that the document signed by the Artsakh president on the dissolution of Artsakh has no legal force because the mediated elected president cannot dissolve the existence of a state that became independent through a referendum, and besides, a person who has adopted a legal act can even invalidate his own another legal action adopted previous․

Mr. Zohrabyan also said that at the Committee session, which was still ongoing at that time, among other issues, the possibility of returning Artsakh’s right to self-determination to the agenda was discussed.

In the lawyer’s personal opinion, the discussed problems cannot be solved in cooperation with the Armenian authorities because “The government of Armenia has refused to support Artsakh, to which it has both a moral and legal obligation.

In 1992, the Supreme Council decided to support protecting the rights of the people of Artsakh, which our government did not do. And we have this situation with the active participation of the Armenian government. These authorities, unfortunately, have an anti-Armenian attitude. We must use our possible means and pressure to resolve the issue of Artsakh’s right to self-determination, even though these authorities are an obstacle,” he said.
