Timur Turlov elected 8th FIDE President

On September 26, the FIDE Presidential Election took place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, as part of the 46th Chess Olympiad.

In the second round of the election, Timur Turlov, President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, was elected President of FIDE, receiving 110 votes.

Delegates representing 196 national chess federations from around the world took part in the election. At the age of 38, Timur Turlov becomes the second-youngest FIDE President in history.

The Armenian Chess Federation congratulates Timur Turlov on his election and wishes him success and productive work in advancing the development of chess worldwide.
