Davit Tovmasyan, an athlete and water polo player living in the United States, is well known not only within the Armenian community but also in Armenia’s sports circles. He regularly visits Armenia and takes part in various events. He was recently in Armenia once again.

The annual water polo competitions held in Armenia are organized by his friend Hamik on the occasion of his son Henrik’s birthday (see also “Barzunki Heno Is Perhaps Charting a New and Lasting Course in the History of Armenian Water Polo”). On that day, water polo clubs from various countries, including Russia, Tbilisi, the United States and elsewhere, are invited to take part in competitions with Armenian teams in memory of his son.

During competitions in Armenia, Davit Tovmasyan met young men from the “Soldier’s House” organization, who were also participating in the competitions. He even became close to and has remained in touch with young men who took part in the war. His friendships and encounters with these young men, who have come face to face with death, changed Davit. He now views what has happened with greater maturity, appreciates national values and has developed a stronger bond with his homeland.

In addition to his close friendship with the young men from “Soldier’s House,” Davit also maintains very close ties with athletes from various water polo teams in Armenia.

Whenever he visits Armenia, Davit continues to stay in touch with his friends. In addition, his ORWP club organizes annual training camps at the Tsaghkadzor Sports Complex, in which Davit and his brother participate. These camps also give them an opportunity to spend time together, train and strengthen their friendships.

A little about Davit: according to his relatives and those close to him, Davit is a very friendly and sociable young man who enjoys interacting with people and easily makes new friends. At the same time, he has a very calm, quiet and mature personality. After graduating from middle school, Davit Tovmasyan had high expectations and was very excited about the prospect of playing for the Hoover High School team, where his brother also plays. The opportunity for the two brothers to be on the same team and play together was very important to him.

However, things turned out differently, as Davit received some interesting offers that opened up new opportunities in his athletic career. He has always taken his goals seriously and has put considerable effort into his studies in order to do well academically and achieve the goals he has set for himself. For him, it is important not only to succeed in sports but also to build his future through education.

Davit Tovmasyan is also part of the Test Pilot program run by DUCKO, a well-known company in the water polo world. The program gives selected young water polo players from different clubs the opportunity to participate in DUCKO’s special program, test the company’s products, share their opinions and experiences, and represent the program’s community through their athletic activities. Davit was selected as one of the program’s participants and is represented there as No. 47. His inclusion in the DUCKO Test Pilot program is an important achievement, reflecting his active involvement in sports and his dedication to water polo.

DUCKO is a specialized American water polo brand/manufacturer whose products include women’s and men’s water polo swimsuits, caps, towels, ponchos, robes, parkas and team uniforms. The company states that its products are designed and manufactured in Southern California.
