Within the framework of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Armenia actively participated in the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, as well as in related side events.

A key area of Armenia’s engagement was the co-facilitation, together with Rwanda, of the intergovernmental negotiations on the Political Declaration on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response. During the High-Level Meeting, a number of Member States, as well as the President of the UN General Assembly and the Director-General of the World Health Organization, commended the joint efforts and leadership of Armenia and Rwanda throughout the negotiation process, their constructive engagement with Member States, and their efforts to develop an action-oriented Political Declaration.
During the Meeting, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia delivered a statement and, together with the Minister for Health and Social Policies of Singapore, co-chaired one of the multi-stakeholder panels. The discussion focused on strengthening national capacities, ensuring sustainable and predictable financing, and promoting equitable access to vaccines, diagnostics, therapeutics and other essential health products.

Armenia, Rwanda and the Pandemic Fund also jointly organized a side event at Rockefeller Center in New York dedicated to strengthening pandemic preparedness and the resilience of health systems.
The delegation led by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, participated in and delivered remarks at a number of other side events and discussions, addressing, in particular, sustainable financing for pandemic preparedness and the inclusion of refugees and displaced persons in preparedness and response efforts.

Armenia’s participation underscored the country’s consistent support for strengthening multilateral cooperation in global health.
