With the support of Orange Foundation and Armenian Eye Care Project 8800 people got eye medical aid in Ararat region

Joint project of free eye screenings and treatment launched by Orange Foundation and Armenian Eye Care Project (AECP) in Ararat region, which aimed to provide free eye screening services to the residents of Shirak region, as well as treatment for socially vulnerable people, is coming to its end.

In the frames of the project 6600 adults and 2200 children have undergone eye screening, around 900 adults have undergone deep eye screening in the mobile hospital, over 3500 glasses have been provided. Around 480 surgeries and laser treatments have been conducted in the mobile hospital. In the frames of the project eye care awareness special classes have been conducted for around 546 children of nine schools in Ararat region parallel to eye screenings.

Medical groups have worked in Masis, Artashat and Ararat regions. Local ophtalmologists have actively supported the medical staff of the mobile hospital.

Bruno Duthoit, the Chairman of the Board of Orange Foundation, today visited Eye care mobile hospital in Ararat to get familiarized with the works done.

Bruno Duthoit, Chairman of the Board of Orange Foundation, said: “People with eye diseases are in the center of the attention of Orange Foundation not only in Armenia, but also in other countries, where the Foundation operates. It is a matter of priority for us to facilitate communication among people and, as all of us know, eyesight has a big role in this respect. Today we met people whose life has changed thanks to the Foundation and our partners. We are proud for our partnership with the Armenian Eye Care Project, and this initiative will continue in other regions of Armenia.”

Nune Yeghiazaryan, Armenian Eye Care Project Armenian office director said: «We are happy to state that in Ararat region we succeeded to volume of works was double that the original one planned together wit the Orange Foundation. It is difficult to say if it’s because of better communication campaign in the region or because of the increase of number of people who need check-up and treatment. But what is sure is that our doctors worked under real pressure. Anyways, it is very pleasant for us to know we helped so big number of people in Ararat»

To support the works of the AECP in Shirak region, Orange Foundation has allotted 7,319,730 drams.
