“Everyone Can Be Killed,” a Member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Says

February 02,2013 11:08

Raffi Hovhannisyan will come down from Marash on foot and without a bodyguard

Candidates for president refuse the security service offered by the police one after another. Those are Raffi Hovhannisyan and Hrant Bagratyan. www.aravot.am inquired of Mr. Hovhannisyan whether he would still come down from Marash on foot and alone. Raffi Hovhannisyan replied: “Yes, I will. I don’t care what may happen, but let there be ten weddings in front of my funeral.”

In this regard, Sos Gimishyan, a member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), described it as heroism. In his words, “They don’t want to seem afraid, because if a candidate has entered the political struggle, he doesn’t have the right to be afraid and

look like he is afraid. That is why it is heroism. At the end of the day, it may be right. Although, on the other hand, you know, when they enter the struggle, every politician should take into account that there might be such things. Everything may happen. One should psychologically be ready; a bodyguard is not essential. Everyone can be killed. No bodyguard will save, if they decide to kill. The world has proved that. The shooter knows when he should shoot, and you don’t. You cannot watch 24-7. No bodyguard will save, if they decide. The president of the country like the US was assassinated; what can be more difficult? Can you imagine more protected president? If it is ordinary shooting, the bodyguard will help, but no one can do anything against highly-trained professional assassins. On the contrary, perhaps, he will be killed too, and there will be double mourning.”
