Aravot.am has informed that on August 3, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Archbishop Nurhan Manoogian has sent a letter to His Holiness Catholicos of All-Armenian Karekin II, in which he had expressed his uncertainty about the message of the Supreme Spiritual Council regarding the resignation of French Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Norvan Zakarian.
According to the letter reached us, Archbishop Nurhan also expressed his concern that there can not be healthy offspring in the atmosphere of fear and intimidation, the mother church and the people will suffer.
Hours later, it was followed by the Holy See’s response that the letter was distributed in a non-official channels, it casts a doubt, and the Holy See has not received a letter addressed to His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Archbishop Manoogian Nurhan.
A while ago, Father Vahram Melikyan, head of the Holy Etchmiadzin Information System, informed Aravot.am: “The letter dated August 3, 2013, signed by the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, addressed to the Catholicos of All Armenians, in fact, was delivered to Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin only on 6 August at 19.30 pm, hours later after my statement, moreover, from the personal e-mail of Archbishop Aris Shirvanyan.” Father Vahram also informed that the Catholicos of All Armenians has left for a short vacation, and required clarifications and interpretations will be provided in the near future. To the point, Father Vahram has made a note about it on his Facebook page.
