The number of people signing the petition demanding Robert Nazaryan’s resignation is growing

August 18,2015 16:00

As a result of the petition carried out in the Republic Square demanding civil initiative members of the “Stand up, Armenia” – PSRC Chairman Robert Nazaryan and other members of the Committee, more than 4000 signatures are collected. Aravot.am asked the member of the “Stand up, Armenia” civil initiative, Andrias Ghukasyan, of whether it is possible to carry out a petition demanding the resignation of the President, Mr. Ghukasyan replied that freedom fighter Susanna Muradyan has come up with such an initiative and they are supporting her.

In the coming days, the Initiative will apply also to the opposition parties, prominent individuals and organizations so that they would also express their position on this issue. “At that time, it will be clear whether the opposition forces feel the severity of the situation and have the potential to take up the responsibility to save the state. The process of creating a government worthy of people’s trust should primarily depend on the ANC, “Heritage”, the Founding Parliament and the “Civil Contract”. At least these four forces should express their position on whether they see a potential for them and inside them to form a government worthy of people’s trust or not. We have a problem to obtain this simplicity, accordingly, to initiate all our next steps. If they do not have the potential, the citizens will seek other ways to solve the problem.”

Back to the involvement of other parties: Prosperous Armenia, ARF and the Rule of Law, Mr. Ghukasyan said that their participation will be determined by the four forces who have always been an opposition. As mentioned by Andrias Ghukasyan, now, the primary task is to remove the RPA from the executive power. “As long as the RPA is in the executive power, no free and fair early elections can be conducted in Armenia. Therefore, we suggested RPA to remove from the executive power, and then remove Serzh Sargsyan from the President’s office, and then conduct parliamentary elections with the new political arrangement.”

Mr. Ghukasyan opines that there are all negative reasons for demanding the resignation of this government: the foreign debt is growing year-by-year and every year, a hundred millions dollar from the state budget is spent on servicing the state debt. “A much more foreign debt is laid on the shoulders of our nation. Not only the investments are not increasing, but the existing entrepreneurs are closing up the factories and leave, the vivid example of which is Hrant Vardanyan’s family decision to move the business outside of Armenia. The political elite survives at the expense of increasing the foreign debt, and they stay in the government costs eighty-ninety million dollars per month on our people.”
