February 16,2016 20:00

PAP is going to submit a number of draft legislative amendments. “Program amendments are needed,” says NA PAP MP Mikayel Melkumyan, “PAP is attaches importance to the economic development of the country, coming up with various proposals and we are going to be consistent that they will be implemented. We are going to watch the work of the government closely and we will not let the reoccurrence of what happened to the agricultural sector last year. We will not let the farmers stay futile this year and out of profit from the sale of the grape and other agricultural crops.”

According to Mr. Melkumyan, as a result of development associated with the Russia ruble, this year, thousands of citizens of Armenia will not leave to migrant work, “This means that we will receive less transfers. Compared to 2014, last year, we received five hundred million dollars fewer transfers, while last year, in comparison with 2014, we will receive eight hundred million to one billion less, which is a new challenge. If the volume of imports fell by thirty percent, it is also conditioned by the fact of not being solvent.

We have solutions of what it should be. We are suggesting specific program solutions. There are a number of directions, we must be able to export 7000-8000 tons of early matured potatoes to Russia end of May and fifty days in a row, because it does not come from Turkey. And the turnover is about 20-25 million dollars. The next issue refers to the export of the Armenian wine and cheese. We export 17000 tons of cheese, while our wine is not competitive in the Russian market because the unit price is twice higher than the Chilean and Bulgarian wine, why these costs are inflated, in both locations, the grapes is sold by 100-120 drams, we need to sit down and discuss with the government responsible.”
