Painter Haghtanak Shahumyan told “Aravot” that a group of artists has decided to support the army in an original way. Their works will be put up for sale in New York in February and the entire proceeds will be handed to the army to serve its needs. “Everyone supports the army. Is there anyone who does not? Just everyone’s approach is different, everyone does it on their own way. There are also complaints, but those promote filling in those gaps: said the painter. Before the auction, on December 15, Yerevan will host an exhibition of those 50-60 works at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Among those painters, besides Haghtanak Shahumyan and his son, are Robert Elibekyan, Taron Muradyan, and others.
“We thought that would be a good idea to exhibit the works also in Yerevan, because there is also a moral aspect in the initiative: to make people aware that artists can be useful for the army too…”, said the artist.
