Azerbaijan’s Ambassador accuses Azerbaijan of conducting caviar policy in Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe

Arif Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the Council of Europe in 2006-2012, held a press conference in Strasbourg, in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. He expressed accusations against the Azerbaijani leadership in front of the crowded audience.

In an interview with Aravot.am, member of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mikayel Melkumyan, informed that Mammadov accused the Azerbaijani leadership, declaring that it had been conducting so-called caviar policy for years with the Council of Europe members and with the leadership of the Assembly in favor of Azerbaijan: “Mammadov presented concrete facts that earlier he warned the PACE Secretariat that such steps are being taken by Azerbaijan, but nothing changed”.

Mr. Melkumyan stressed that not only journalists but also more than 50 delegates from different countries were present at the press conference. According to Mikayel Melkumyan, in response to the question whether he can bring facts, Mammadov said that all evidence will be presented according to the procedure.
