ANNOUNCEMENT

Regarding the recent developments in the country, we state that the steps taken to establish legality, equality before the law, and to eliminate the atmosphere of impunity are welcomed. It is extremely important that all processes take place within the law, and do not give rise to different criticisms and political speculations.

A strong state, national unity an, social solidarity are the most essential guarantee to overcome the internal and external challenges the country faces. The military-political tension in Artsakh and Armenia dictates the exclusion of manifestation of distrust towards any state institution and, first and foremost, towards the Armenian army. We believe that the authorities should carry out the function of a consolidator and any form of prosecution should not endanger that function.

In this context, we also consider the objective, impartial and comprehensive investigation of the tragic events of March 1, 2008. In this regard, the accusation against the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and other representatives of that power on the events of March 1 is worrisome and can be interpreted as political persecution.
