‘I believe that it is immoral for Nairi Hunanyan to use that law’: Anahit Bakhshyan

October 22,2019 20:45

“I will definitely be against that,” Anahit Bakhshyan, the widow of former Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Yuri Bakhshyan, who was killed on October 27th, 1999, told Aravot Daily.

News circulated that the head of the terrorist group, Nairi Hunanyan, who has been sentenced to life in prison, has applied for parole. His application is being reviewed. Nairi Hunanyan is carrying out his sentence at the Yerevan Penitentiary.

The law allows individuals sentenced to life who have carried out the sentence for at least 20 years to apply for parole. “I am someone who respects the law, and since the laws of Armenia do not yet hold the same weight for everyone and not everyone is equal under the law, I believe that it is immoral for Nairi Hunanyan to use that law,” Anahit Bakhshyan said, adding that, when Armenia does become a country that respects the law and justice, “Perhaps I will think about letting another disgrace see the light of the sun.”

Bakhshyan expressed confusion. “How immoral can the judicial system be to even pay attention to such an application?”
