The US State Department, giving details of the Mirzoyan-Bayramov negotiations, reports that the document “Relations Settlement Agreement” by foreign ministers covers many areas, including “the rights and security of ethnic minorities.”
From this, it can be understood that our compatriots living in Artsakh in the “peace agreement” are only an “ethnic minority” living in Azerbaijan. But that’s still not enough. That phrase is used in the plural because it is also about the rights of the Azerbaijani “ethnic minority.” Where should Azerbaijanis use this right? Well, of course in Armenia, or in Aliyev’s terminology, “West Azerbaijan.“ Thus, the “Agreement on the normalization of relations” implies that the Azerbaijanis, having fulfilled their “rights,” should “return” to the Republic of Armenia, and the government of that republic undertakes such an obligation. It is a direct path to the destruction of Armenian Statehood. And, of course, we will have no peace or security on that road.
The majority of Armenian citizens may not see that perspective. But the people in power probably understand what they are doing. It is not excluded, of course, that they think: “OK, let’s sign that paper, and maybe Azerbaijan will be satisfied with it, even temporarily.”
But in reality, nothing like that will happen. And Turkey will not be satisfied with the demand to dismantle the “Nemesis” monument either. In case of dismantling, the airspace may be open for two weeks, after which it will make new demands. So those who said that the Armenian-Turkish border would be opened in the summer were at least naive.
