On June 17, Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araghchi had a telephone conversation at the initiative of the Iranian Side.
The Iranian Foreign Minister briefed his Russian counterpart on preparations for signing a memorandum of understanding designed to formalise the cessation of the conflict in the Middle East and launch talks on a comprehensive agreement between Iran and the US.
Sergey Lavrov expressed support for the understandings on de-escalating tensions in the region, reached thanks to the effective mediation of Pakistan and Qatar.
The importance of their strict observance by all parties involved in the armed confrontation without exception, including Israel, was emphasised.
