A meeting was held at the Human Rights Defender’s Office with the participation of Zhanna Hakobyan, Head of the Research, Expert and Educational Center of the Human Rights Defender’s Office; Lilit Aghajanyan, Head of the Department for Ensuring Convention Mandates; other representatives of the Defender’s Office; as well as Mihran Bulghadaryan, Head of the Personal Data Protection Agency of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, and other representatives of the Agency.
During the meeting, practical issues related to the processing, use and transfer of personal data were discussed, as well as mechanisms for preventing possible violations and ensuring an effective response.
The participants also addressed effective mechanisms for the protection of personal data in the context of the development of information technologies, as well as the need to improve the existing legislative framework.
Particular attention was paid to the protection of children’s personal data, taking into account the specific considerations related to ensuring their rights and best interests. Issues concerning the dissemination of information, photographs and videos relating to children, as well as their possible unlawful processing or publication, were discussed.

The parties emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to address existing challenges in the field through the implementation of educational programs and joint discussions of individual cases and systemic issues, with a view to ensuring the proper protection of personal data, preventing possible violations and responding to them effectively.
