” Positive opposition” exists like Betelgeyze star; ARF opposes to RPA this way.
RPA leadership expressed its surprise on the occasion of ARF\’s “positive opposition” status. Let\’s quote RPA deputy leader, NA chairman Tigran Torosyan\’s observations made for different occasions that the ARF\’s place in political sphere is simply strange. “There is no third situation after the elections in any country. The part of parties become the political majority and coalition government and represent the authority, the rest is the opposition, and different adjectives are not proper. Each kind of political force may be either authority or opposition. There have been other forces during these 16 years that have declared that they are neither authority nor opposition, but in my opinion, 16 years were enough to understand that there can\’t be any third version, and Armenian political forces will hardly be able to make successful innovations in policy on this occasion”.
In answer to this, NA vice chairman, ARF bureau member Vahan Hovhanisyan noted on October 7 that several people think that the idea of “positive opposition” is impossible. ” Again black and white, again hostility. The truth isn\’t so. If people don\’t know about any idea, it doesn\’t mean that idea doesn\’t exist”. And ARF bureau member explained what the positive opposition was alluding to Levon Ter-Petrosyan\’s speech: “It is such kind of opposition, which doesn\’t declare that the state is spoiled, corrupted and destroyed… It is such kind of opposition which doesn\’t call to destroy the state system and also doesn\’t think that all steps taken in the last ten years are wrong and hopeless”. Mahan Hovhanisyan also added: “If there are people who think that there is such an idea in the world, they also don\’t know that there is Betelgeyze star in the universe. But it doesn\’t mean that star doesn\’t exist. It exists like the positive opposition does.”
