“DID YOU HOLD A FLAG ON MARCH 1?”

May 10,2008 00:00

RA state flag is a powerful tool for the policemen.

27 year old dweller from the Southwestern district Armen Gevorgyan informed us that the policemen disturb him and his family for about 20 days. They even took certain steps yesterday. Armen was telling about the following: “I go to work early in the morning, at about 7 am. And policemen visit our home after, without explaining the purpose of their visit.” The policemen from Arabkir police station and not from Malatia-Sebastia community where Armen lives, visit his flat. They wake the family members up and conduct a search of something without any corresponding allowance. The policemen visited Armen Gevorgyan’s flat yesterday again. They called his mother to the police station of Arabkir district, and then they phone to my cell phone saying that my mother is at the police station. I went there; deputy chief of criminal investigation department Hayrik Vardanyan told me that he had a 5 minute conversation with me. I entered a room where my mother was not allowed to enter; there were two more policemen there. They said as if I beat a policeman on March1, fired a bus, a car and as if it is shot. In short, they wanted to accuse of everything they could. But they didn’t manage since it wasn’t true. I told them that I participated in the meeting on March 1 but I was standing near “Congress” hotel, and there were 2 KVZ type cars which were brought there broken. Not reaching any success the policemen brought me to their chief. The chief of police gave me questions as well, he asked me: “if Levon was elected would he assign you in any position? I said no, I think about my kid’s future, I also said several bad things, and the chief threatened me to throw to Serge’s bodyguards”.

Then Armen is interrogated in another room where he is told that he was holding our state flag on that day. “I said yes, I was holding our state flag and was knocking at the top of the bus. Then they asked me whether I know Nikol Pashinyan. I answered is there any person in Armenia who doesn’t know him.” The policemen then abuse and threaten him and will show the video where he was holding a flag. “Come, show me the flag, and I will sign for that”, – Armen said to the policemen.

This story exerts its influence on the health of Armen’s mother, and his family found itself in a bad psychological condition. By the way Armen tried to call to our office just from the police station but he wasn’t allowed, he was not even allowed to call to the Ombudsman.

P.S. Armen Gevorgyan doesn’t hide his ideological orientation and says that he doesn’t want to hide his political views.
