To continue the struggle from the NA rostrum up to the square

  This decision was made by the enlarged meeting of the Heritage Party counsel.

 On March 13 the enlarged meeting of the Heritage Party took place and 39 regional heads of the party and the party MPs also participated in the meeting. It is known that one of the issues discussed at the meeting was the unification of the opposition, as well as the participation in the rally organized by the ANC on March 17. Raffi Hovannisian stated that the board had never predetermined the participation in the rally and both the ordinary members and the MPS and the members of the board are free to make a decision on that issue. Many of the participants were concerned with the fact that all the steps made by the Heritage Party to unify the opposition so far had not got any real or substantial response from the other opposition powers, despite the fact that the participation of Raffi Hovhannisian and many Heritage Party MPs in the latest rally excited the ordinary participants of the rally.

The enlarged meeting of the counsel made a decision on the situation in the country and accepted a call for the compatriots that states that the Heritage Party initiatives are not even included in the state organ, primarily in parliament schedule and that the Heritage Party protest at the NA on February 28 “as an alarm for the society” was appropriate.

The enlarged meeting of the Heritage Party stated, “The present critical juncture of things dictates critical solutions”, and decided, “Using all the available sources from the NA rostrum up to the square continue struggle for the legal and out-of-turn reestablishment of the whole government of the country.” As a priority of the newly established government is stated, “Separate the government from the oligarchs and the representatives of the other major businesses, diminish the artificial monopolies, detect and strictly administer justice for the abuses of office on all levels for personal, family or party purposes”; “detect and strictly administer justice for the tragic crimes taken place on March1-2 and the following developments and the illegal and unlawful deeds”; “secure the freedom of speech and movement, the basic rights of rallying and protesting and hold responsible all the officials who violated those rights and freedoms”; “set free all the political prisoners and the persons who were arrested for political reasons, legally prosecute the judges who legalized the political persecutions”; “ensure the independence of the judicial power, as well as compensate the citizens for damages suffered at the expense of the goods and property of a judge who made an obviously unjust decision”; “substantially reform the police system, as well as stand responsible the law enforcement men who inflicted violence on the citizens and the MPs”; “substantially reform the national security system and its organs, detect the agents who have cooperated with the special agencies of the foreign countries in the past or currently”; “establish public education based exceptionally on the Armenian language with the substantial improvement of the teaching of the foreign languages and cultures, encourage the translation with the translation of the best textbooks and scientific articles, Armenianize the international programs”. Overall priorities are 21.

It was decided also to arrange an out-of-turn overall meeting of the Heritage Party during this year.

By the way, assessing the protesting action of the Heritage Party as appropriate and right the members of the counsel expressed a thought that the faction could be authorized to arrange a meeting and make a decision on the further steps in the near future. To our knowledge, the faction will arrange a meeting on this issue on March 21. Today the Heritage Party is organizing an open meeting during which the head of the party board Raffi Hovannisian will make a speech and will go into details about their further steps.
