According to the information of www.aravot.am, the Free Democrats Party discusses the issue of withdrawing from the coalition with the Heritage Party. Let us remind that this union was established before the parliamentary election. Now, two members of the Free Democrats Party, Khachatur Kokobelyan, the leader of the party, and Alexander Arzumanyan, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, are members of the Heritage Party parliamentary group. We haven’t managed to confirm the above-mentioned news. The members of the Free Democrats Party haven’t yet answered our phone calls.
Let us remind that Raffi Hovhannisyan, the leader of the Heritage Party, talked about the controversies existing between these two parties last week. According to him, the leaders of the Free Democrats Party and the Heritage Party had an agreement that they would renounce the offices and would make way for the youths. Kokobelyan, however, still doesn’t rush to do that, which was incomprehensible and surprising for Hovhannisyan. Khachatur Kokobelyan was not in Armenia. Once he returned, Raffi Hovhannisyan expected that he would give answers to this and other related questions, after which he would make a decision regarding the presidential election. Kokobelyan has already returned to Armenia and according to articles in the press, has had a meeting with some fellow party members in a café. Raffi Hovhannisyan hasn’t met with Kokobelyan yet.
Armen Martirosyan, a member of the Heritage Party governing body, said in response to a question of www.aravot.am whether they were aware that the Free Democrats were discussing the issue of withdrawing from the Heritage Party, “I cannot answer, unless they make an official statement. I don’t know anything at the moment.”
