Young Diplomats’ Club, an NGO, organized a protest outside the UN Office in Yerevan, condemning the UN’s indifference toward violence against Armenians in Turkey. Members of Nikol Aghbalyan, a students’ association, joined the march.
The protesters handed their letter-protest to the ambassador’s advisor. “The UN’s passiveness and silence deepen the anti-Armenian atmosphere. We expect, we demand the UN’s assessment and demand from the Turkish government to take a respective attitude toward the issue,” one of the activists had said before the letter was handed to the ambassador’s advisor.
Gerasim Vardanyan, the chairman of Nikol Aghbalyan’s central executive body, explained European organizations’ indifference during a conversation with www.aravot.am as follows: “European organizations with their passiveness prove once again, as in 1915, that they actually don’t carry out their mission.”
