Aravot.am inquired from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan whether joining Customs Union will not hamper the pension reforms. We also inquired from the minister whether recent distrust of some citizens over the state and its head will not be the reason for people not to trust our state in any other issue, and refuse to deposit their money with the expectation of receiving a pension in the future. Mr. Asatryan, which is one of the main reformers of the country’s pension system, in response to our question, said,- “I do not see any obstacle and I think that the reforms that are executed in the system of social protection, they are systems in compliance with internationally accepted criteria and standards, as well as the first and foremost considering the needs, objectives and characteristics of our country. Still in 1992, an intergovernmental agreement was signed between the CIS countries, in the framework of which unified approaches were defined with regard to social protection systems and particularly pension systems, and also assumption of mutual obligations, and these agreements are valid until today.” And whether our international partners see any obstacles in continuing to support the reforms in the situation of joining the Customs Union, the continuation of Mr. Asatryan’s interview in the video.
