In these days, the interactive performance called the “Rainbow’s trial” of the Theatre for Changes staged at Hovhannes Tumanyan Puppet Theater, on December 10, the Day of International Human Rights, raised a lot of fuss. The author of the play is Karine Khodikyan. The “United Youth League” spread rumors about the performance alerting that the performance is advocating the homosexuality. On the day of the performance, Khachik Stamboltsyan said from the stage of the Puppet Theater that whatever is happening is a traitorous practice and a shame. In the conversation with Karine Khodikyan, Aravot.am inquired about why such a fuss was raised, and whether the audience perceived the episode wrong where it was presenting a village woman that has got sick and tired of being a woman and chose the option of changing her gender.

Ms. Khodikyan responded, “Go, and watch the play, and if you find something like that, please. I wrote about the violence against women, about the rights of women in Armenia, especially the rural women, whose husband is working abroad, or does not have job, and, often, the entire burden lies on the shoulders of the woman. I have written about it and the performance is about it. Who sees what, that is already his problem.”
