Koryun Nahapetyan. “We need to be initially sure that it is nonsense” (Video)

June 20,2014 22:00

As soon as our delegation that was participating in the NATO conference in Baku arrived in Yerevan, it was followed by the information in the Azerbaijan press that, to put it mildly, were incredible and were not inspiring any confidence. In particular, one of the the Azerbaijani mass media had written that the Chairman of the NA Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, Koryun Nahapetyan, had said that Armenia had no force, nor intention to wage war. To the question of “Aravot” of how he will comment on this statement, which has already been put into circulation by some Armenian media, K. Nahapetyan said that it was obvious that this is nonsense. He said that they are already accustomed that the Azerbaijani media are either distorting the speech, or completely fabricate, and attribute non-existing things on them. And in this particular case, his speech was misrepresented, because he had only said that no one wants war, and no one needs war, and the best way is recognizing the independence of Nagorno Karabakh by Azerbaijan and living in peace coexistence. To our question of whether it would not be correct to somehow counter and disseminate a statement in this connection, otherwise it becomes a regular practice for our neighbors, the deputy disagreed, “Any reversal would mean giving great importance to initially absurdity.” He also said he does not think that anyone should voice an opinion based on the materials posted in the Azerbaijan media, even if some of the Armenian websites are just “copying and pasting” their materials. To our observation that these statements can be taken seriously outside, K. Nahapetyan responded that the Azerbaijan, as well as the Armenian media is watched outside. Watch the video for the details.
