The statement by the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the USA addressed to the international community regarding the recent events to exercise sanctions against Armenia, the Chairman of National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, and Republican MP, Artak Zakaryan, consider the next absurdity by Azerbaijan. Hence, he does not see a problem with commenting on it. “In the world history, sanctions have never been exercised against the country, which ensures the safety and protection of its own country. In my opinion, the Azeris, with such actions, hope to involve foreign forces in their adventures trying to take advantage of the situation in the modern world. In their calculations, most likely, they want to create the next opportunity for distorting the NKR problem. The only thing that Azerbaijan can do is the increase of tensions through the border clashes. And this, as you can see, thanks to our strong army, has an inglorious ending for subversive groups.”
To the observation that it is not right that the Armenian side should also come up with a respond statement by drawing the attention of the international community to Azerbaijan’s internal affairs, Artak Zakaryan said that the internal situation in Azerbaijan, really, gives an opportunity to be concerned, and it regularly appears in the core attention by the international structures. “But, today, Azerbaijan’s ongoing arming scales are more than disturbing. They should be under the control by the international community as they are a direct threat to the security of the entire region,” said our interlocutor. He, in fact, is encouraged by the united response of our society and the spirit that in recent days prevails in Armenia and Artsakh. “This is what I consider adequate,” said the Republican MP in response to the question of whether he considers the response by the international community to recent events adequate.
As to the international community’s response, Mr. Zakaryan thinks that Azerbaijan had always ignored the urges and calls of the international community. “Unlike official Baku, the international community’s response has always been important for us, and we approach them with respect. It is clear that this time also, a task of keeping the parity is put in all statements. I consider one thing very important that the necessity of maintaining the peace and peaceful regulation has always been clearly emphasized in all the statements. That’s why it is the right time for the international community makes statements that pull up the Aliyev criminal regime and takes measures that Azerbaijan recognizes and respects the agreements and proposals reached during the negotiations. Because, in my perception, the conflict settlement process is currently in a very responsible round for the OSCE MG co-chairs.”
