A 15-year-old boy is suspected of two assaults on the US Peace Corps volunteer in Ijevan. The first incident occurred on June 10 and the second on June 15. Armen Marukhyan, Prosecutor of Tavush marz, informed us that after the first incident the volunteer has not applied to law enforcement agencies. Supervision was applied over the 15-year-old resident of the city of Ijevan as a preventive punishment.
A criminal case has opened by clause 4, Paragraph 2, Article 175 of the Criminal Code (“Banditry committed by using a weapon or other item as weapon”). There are circumstances related to this case, which need clarifying. The US volunteer is working as a lecturer in one of the Ijevan educational institutions.
