Former National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan considers it absurd that the “Yelq” is constantly taking 20-minute breaks. He considers it a violation of the regulation. Responding to reporters’ remark, that the regulation allows constant breaks, Galust Sahakyan said: “It allows, but the president has the right to stop it, and say, now you take breaks one after another, violating our regular work, I put it to vote”.
One of the reporters asked whether he means that Ara Babloyan works wrong. Galust Sahakyan responded: “He does not work wrong, but he can prevent this. Ultimately, this is the National Assembly, and besides the legislation, there is also a tradition. Those are complicated things that do not refer to the National Assembly and it should not be involved in such issues. We should put the opposition into their place”.
In response to the question, whether how one should put the opposition into its place, Galust Sahakyan said: “The opposition should know its place. You should fight as much as many votes you have received, and if the opposition tries to oppose and propose new things in any situation, that is not the opposition’s job. The opposition has a higher task”.
