As already informed, Echmiadzin City Council had discussed the issue of depriving Manvel Grigoryan of his title of honourable citizen of Echmiadzin. The session agenda included eight issues. No separate voting took place after the discussion. They said a few days ago there was a preliminary discussion on the issue and everyone was in for.
Four of the 14 Council members, Arman Grigoryan, Artak Poghosyan, Karen Movsisyan and Aramayis Mirzoyan, did not participate in the session. Artak Poghosyan is Manvel Grigoryan’s son-in-law, his daughter’s husband.
There is no information on the party affiliation of the Council members on the Municipality website. But many of them were Republicans or supporters of the Republican Party. Republican members have left the party. According to the information we possess, however, the Republican members did not have a decisive role in the Echmiadzin Council.
After the session, Aravot.am tried to ask the Council members some questions on issues related to Manvel Grigoryan’s case, his son, Karen Grigoryan’s tenure as the former mayor of Echmiadzin, but the members refused to give answers.
